how comes Public Image Ltd.sound nothing like The Sex Pistols?

I think the Sex Pistols are the greatest punk band of all time and Johnny Rottens singing was just amazing he had a unique style of singing.How comes when he sings for Public Image Ltd. that voice isn't there no more i just cant get into Public Image Ltd. even there early stuff dosent sound like or as good as the Sex Pistols stuff.
i understand that when a group splits up and you create a new band you want a new sound and to get away from the last group but its the fact the pistols where only about for 3 years with one studio Album dosent feel like we got enough of there sound.

first of all, greatest punk band? damn. second, I'd change my sound too if I made an album where nearly all the songs sound the same.
