Pros and cons of public sex offender list?

What are some pros and cons of having a sex offender list made available to the public?

I'd say basically it makes the public aware of who's done time and what the crime was to start with...They always say that if the perpatrator does his time, that he's cured and Im not sure that I believe that... I'd say once they have done this they will strike again just a matter of time..
